Thank You!
LDB Mission Statement:
It is the mission of Lil’ Drummaboy Recordings, LLC. to provide world-class quality in audio engineering and music production services – and teach self-sufficiency, independence, and a high level of proficiency – to audio engineers and music creators around the globe. If you’re making music yourself, you’ve found your tribe.
Core Services:
Lil’ Drummaboy Recordings (LDB) core service offerings are as follows:
• Audio Engineering School – LDB offers a comprehensive, 6-month, certificate-based audio engineering school that teaches adult students to record, mix, and master music at a high level of proficiency. Topics in the program include room acoustics, recording gear, EQ and frequency, compression, bussing, mastering, and more.
• Music Business School – The music business program is a 16-week, music business launch program. Throughout the course, adult students are taught the fundamentals of entrepreneurship while they build and develop their own businesses. Topics addressed include marketing and advertising, business entity types, the basics of accounting, social media marketing, brand development, copyrights, music publishing, and more.

• Music Production Program – The music production program is a 6-month, in-depth music creation experience that begins with an education in basic piano and music theory. From there, adult students use industry-standard DAWs (digital audio workstations) to compose and arrange their own, original music. Topics of discussion include rhythm development and programming, harmony and chord construction, creating melodies and hooks, and more.
• Full-Service Recording Studio – LDB offers a full suite of audio recording services. We record, edit, mix, and master numerous genres of music (including hip-hop, pop, R&B, rock, jazz, reggae, etc.), as well as podcasts, audiobooks, voice-over projects, and more.
Company Vision:
Lil’ Drummaboy Recordings (LDB) is an institution that has been servicing the Philadelphia Tri-States’ music and media community for more than 23 years. Samori Coles founded LDB in the spirit of independence, compassionate customer service, excellence in quality and detail, continuous learning and improvement, consistency in operations and service fulfillment, honesty, and entrepreneurial stealth and agility.
LDB is a safe and highly creative space where independent music creators and entrepreneurs can learn, build, develop, and grow within a community of like-minded and focused audio engineers, music producers, recording artists, and entrepreneurs.
The programming and core service-offerings at Lil’ Drummaboy Recordings are designed to complement the overall company vision, and contribute to the wealth of talent and musical greatness that has been birthed in the Philadelphia Tri-States, and around the world.
Team Directive:
The most effective to build a team is to ensure that all team members operate in a way that is consistent with the company’s mission, its goals, and its objectives.
To that end, all team members must ensure that their interactions within the LDB community are in line with company’s vision.
Anytime that a lesson is taught, whether in a class or lab setting, it must stay true to the overall standards and educational approach that the LDB curriculum is built on. Obviously, there is more than one way to teach and to learn. The LDB-way is based on simplicity, honesty, attention to detail, knowledge- and craft-integrity, and a focused/coordinated method.
Facilitating LDB services or classes that is inconsistent with the aforementioned standards will dilute the company vision and mission. Obviously, this will not be tolerated.
Open Lab:
Open Lab takes place on Saturdays from 11:00am – 2:00pm. This time-frame is to be strictly maintained, as recording sessions and other activities will be planned sharply at 2:00pm. It is the responsibility of all staff members that facilitate Open Lab to ensure that it begins at 11:00am and ends at 2:00pm.
Open Lab is an opportunity for LDB students to come to the studio and work on their class projects, personal projects, collaborations with peers, etc. It is not a free-for-all. Audio Engineering students and Music Production students may periodically invite their friends for outside projects, but that does not mean that a student can work on entire albums or long term projects during Open Lab. It is strictly designed for student and LDB-community development and relationship building.
While students may ask LDB staff for help and clarification on relevant topics that they are studying, it is not designed as a substitute for one-on-one classes. Anytime a lesson is taught during Open Labs, it must maintain the same structure and philosophy that is consistent with our core programming. Also, any lesson that is taught must be consistent with where the student is in their training.
